Sylva Left Only N400,000 In Bayelsa’s Account – State Govt

The Bayelsa State government has declared that it inherited a little over N400,000 from the last administration of former Governor; Timipre Sylva.
Addressing a news conference in Abuja, the State’s Commissioner for Finance; Mr Duate Iyabi claimed the inherited funds and accumulated debts are hampering the development of the state under the administration of Governor Seriake Dickson.
The Commissioner accused the former governor of financial recklessness.
But in a swift reaction, the Special Adviser on media to Chief Sylva stated that the accusations are diversionary attempt by the incumbent government to redirect the focus of the people away from his government which is yet to fulfill its electoral promises one year after it came to power.
Denying the claim by the Seriake Dickson administration, the governor’s aide stated that as at the time the former governor left office, the state had not received its January 2012 allocation from the Federal Allocation Account Committee.
