The
Super Eagles of Nigeria is yet to heave a sigh of relief after the
nerve-wracking clash in Group C of the Afcon 2013, where the victory
could have swung the other way.
It was a close shave for Nigeria against the Walya Antelopes of Ethiopia, thanks to Chelsea forward, Victor Moses’ deft move which committed an Ethiopian player and goalkeeper to earn the Super Eagles two penalty kicks pushing Nigeria into the quarter finals.
Perhaps, the quarterfinals spells more worry for Nigeria as their next opponent has been confirmed to be star studded Cote d’Ivoire and this Nigeria has started to think about. Tagged tournament favourite, the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire have already secured first place in Group D and will close play in the group against already eliminated Algeria today as the Ivoriens are already looking forward to the matchup with the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Coach Stephen Keshi has swung into action after the Super Eagles escaped elimination by assuring Nigerians that although from the quarterfinals it’s anybody’s game, he has already a plan to try to beat the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire.
