When Your Company is the Target of Extortion

By Jacquelyn Lynn

You might think it's the stuff movies are made of: bomb threats, product tampering, sabotage, and kidnapping. You might think it will never happen to you because you're a small, relatively obscure company, but that could actually be what makes you an attractive target to an extortionist.

Being a victim of extortion or threats is not a factor of size, and it's not always connected to a perception of wealth. You can become a victim for many reasons. A small company might be an easier target than a large multinational, because the large companies are often perceived as having a very significant security force in place. And whereas a large company might be able to weather the costs stemming from a kidnapping or product recall and negative press campaign, for a smaller company, the damage could be irreparable, which makes them more likely to give in to the threat.

The first step in protecting your company from various forms of corporate terrorism is to understand that it can, indeed, happen to you. The source will likely be one of five types of perpetrators:

- Disgruntled employees, either current or former, or someone else with a grudge against you or the company;

- Criminals who are looking primarily for financial gain;

- Psychotic or mentally ill individuals;

- Terrorists; and

- Hoaksters.

Possible scenarios include an unhappy employee who threatens to release company secrets or plant a virus in your computer if you don't take certain described actions; threats from a stranger or a fanatic to injure people or damage property if a ransom is not paid; actual or threats of product tampering; and threats to generate negative publicity if the company fails to take specific actions.

The next step is to develop a crisis management plan. Though you certainly can't plan for all contingencies, think in advance about what steps you will take so you can react calmly and with a sense of purpose to resolve a situation. Decide who will be in charge of what, and plan for communicating with law enforcement, the media, your customers, and your employees. A good way to develop a plan is to meet with a crisis management consultant before anything happens; establishing such a relationship in advance may cost a small amount of time and money, but it will be invaluable if a real need arises.

Consider, too, how you will handle the costs associated with an incident. Some of the expenses may be covered under your regular business insurance, or you may want to investigate special policies. For example, some insurance companies offer kidnap and extortion and product tampering insurance.

The companies that survive extortion threats are usually the ones that were prepared for the "attack" well before it happened and were able to quickly and efficiently implement a crisis management plan.

Criminal Records - Why Landlords Should Check Them

By Jana Berry

Landlords, whether handling one unit or a hundred units, should always process a criminal records search on their prospective tenants. Criminal records should be checked on ALL applicants, male and female age 18 and older. This is common sense. Even if an applicant looks good on paper a landlord may find some surprising information when processing criminal records.

Case number one:
A female, let's call her Heather, was convicted of Taking the Identity of Another, had three Forgery convictions, Theft by Credit Card Obtained through Fraud, two convictions for Theft/Burglary/Robbery/Embezzlement and a final conviction for False Reporting to Law Enforcement. The criminal records found matched Heather's full name and date of birth. The criminal records also indicated that Heather had eight alias names.

Case number two:
A male, let's call him Bob, showed six convictions for Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, plus convictions for Failure to Appear, Delivery/Manufacture of a Controlled Substance-Schedule II, Possession of a Controlled Substance-Schedule II, Theft II, Burglary I and finally Bob had four convictions for Theft I.

Case number three:
An applicant, we'll call him Ben, applied for an apartment in a large complex. We discovered Ben was a Registered Sex Offender with convictions for Sodomy III, Sodomy I and Communing with a minor for immoral purposes as well as several other convictions.

On most rental applications forms there is a question asking about criminal records. Our applications specifically ask "Have you ever been convicted of a criminal offense? Yes or No If yes please explain" with a blank afterward for the explanation. There is a secondary question asking "Have you ever been convicted of or pleaded guilty or 'no contest' to a misdemeanor or felony involving sexual misconduct (whether or not resulting in a conviction)? Yes or No." Many applicants with criminal misconduct do not tell the truth by marking No to these questions. Other applicants leave the questions blank believing that if they do not answer the questions they are not telling a lie.

Case number four:
An applicant, let's call him Joe, stated he had no criminal convictions on the rental application. However, Joe actually had a conviction eight years earlier for Attempted First Degree Murder and a second conviction for Aggravated Battery with a weapon that was not a firearm.

Case number five:
Another applicant, we'll call him Tom, left the questions blank on the application. Tom showed a conviction for Possession of a Dangerous Weapon.

There are other applicants who do answer "Yes" to the question about criminal convictions, but then they put down the conviction with the lesser charge and ignore the rest.

Case number six:
This applicant, we'll call him Don, stated that he had a conviction for a suspended license. What we actually found was conviction information matching Don's first, middle and last names as well as his birth date. There was a conviction for Forgery with four follow up times in jail for SRA (Sentencing Reform Act) Violations as well as a conviction for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 1. The criminal records search on this applicant certainly showed a different story than the rental application form.

Case number seven:
There was an applicant who stated that she had a conviction for shoplifting. Let's call this applicant Marge. While it was true Marge did have a conviction for shoplifting, three convictions in fact, there were two additional convictions for Theft in the Third Degree.

Case number eight:
A different applicant gave as his explanation, "I was young and stupid." This applicant was 38 at the time of conviction.

A landlord is not actually required to have written permission from an applicant for the criminal records check. Criminal records are a matter of public record. However, to process a criminal records search it is mandatory to have the applicant's name and date of birth. The requested search is made and matched on this information. We suggest viewing your prospective tenant's driver's license for verification of the correct spelling of the name and the correct birth date. Make sure that the information on the rental application matches the information on the license.

Case number nine:
The applicant, Tony, provided one date of birth on the application form. This came up clear of criminal records. However, the Washington State driver's license number listed on the application form indicated a slightly different date of birth. We checked that date of birth as well. With that second, correct, date of birth we discovered Tony had convictions for Theft 2, four convictions for Burglary 2, Possession of stolen Property 2, three SRA violations, two convictions for Residential Burglary, Drug Possession, Drugs - Manufacturing/Delivering/Possession.

Everything from drug convictions to kidnap, rape and Murder convictions can be found when criminal records are searched.

Case number ten:
John has convictions for Residential Burglary with a SRA Violation, Drug Possession, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Domestic Violence Assault and two Protection Order Violations

Case number eleven:
Jed has convictions for Unlawful Imprisonment, 3 counts of Kidnapping 1 and Assault 2

Case number twelve:
Josephine showed up as having registered as a Sex Offender. Her co-applicant, William was also a registered Sex Offender with additional convictions for Taking a Motor Vehicle without Owner Permission, Burglary 2, Rape of a Child 3 and SRA Violations.

Convicted criminals are not a protected class. It is totally up to each individual landlord as to whether you would rent to a person with criminal convictions or not. Some landlords will take into account how old the conviction/s is; other landlords pay attention to whether the conviction was for a violent or non-violent crime. And still other landlords take notice as to whether the conviction was a one time only occurrence or is a continuing pattern. All of these issues can help you determine what your level of tolerance is. You know where your property is located and what the neighborhood is like. Is it an apartment with lots of neighbors and children or a single family home on its own lot? Only you can make a final decision on renting to an applicant with criminal convictions.

How US Gangs and Mafia Are Contributing to Child Trafficking

By Chris A. Harmen

Reports show that the child trafficking industry is a 12 billion dollar illegal operation that is occurring both in the United States and around the world. An NBC Report stated that a predator can make over $200,000 each year from just one victim of modern day slavery. Combine that with the estimated 2.5 million children that have been sexually exploited and $12 billion isn't such an unbelievable number.

Human trafficking is one of the biggest problems occurring in the U.S. and around the world. If the evolution of high profits, high demand, and low risk continues, the growth of this epidemic will continue as well. Due to these factors, criminal organizations, such as the mob and other gangs, have begun to take part in this tragedy that devastates the lives of millions of children around the world.

Modern Day Slavery Used By The Mafia

A large criminal organization that has been functioning for years has moved into the child trafficking industry. According to MSNBC, the boss of the Gambino crime family and 13 other people were charged with various crimes, one of which was child trafficking. According to U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, this is a "new low" for the criminal organization and the first time the mafia has been caught participating in this type of offense. Members of the organized crime family had allegedly recruited several girls from strip clubs to be prostitutes. One recruit was a 15-year-old girl. According to the documents filed with the federal courts in Manhattan, the Gambino family had advertised the girls' services via Craigslist.

The victims were driven throughout the greater New York area to meet with men who had scheduled appointments. They were also made available to players at the criminal family's weekly high-stakes poker games for sexual purposes. If the victims were non-compliant, they were beaten with baseball bats. Law enforcement officials look at this case as evidence that the mafia still exists today, and it appears there isn't a crime too horrific they would not commit if it is profitable, including child trafficking.

Gangs Using Child Trafficking For Profit

A vice detective of the San Diego Police Department informed an anti-trafficking representative that the issue of gang involvement in modern day slavery is growing. Every month, at least 10 to 20 groups or individuals are added to the department's watch list. Since this number only represents those that are discovered by the police, the actual number of those involved is likely far greater.

The tragedy is that children have become a commodity to gangs that are selling them as property to adults for abuse and rape. There is a shift of gang activity away from selling drugs to selling human beings. When comparing the legal risk between the two crimes, it is evident that the penalties for child trafficking is far less than that of drug trafficking. Moreover, there is essentially no overhead cost involved with modern day slavery. The fact is that gangs are using children for sexual purposes to profit. This type of action not only dehumanizes the kids that are being bought and sold, but completely violates the natural rights afforded to them under the constitution.

Targeting The Demand For Child Trafficking

The largest contributing factor to the growth of modern day slavery around the world is the demand for it. In a yearly report released by the U.S. State Department, they state that an effective campaign to bring an end to sexual exploitation of minors throughout the world must address the demand side of the issue. This calls for a global response to enact harsher penalties for those that are enslaving human beings. In addition, criminals need to be investigated and successfully prosecuted. Finally, the public also needs to become more aware of the problem affecting children in the U.S. and around the world. There are numerous anti-trafficking organizations. However, those focused primarily on ending the demand of child sex trafficking are not as common. By getting involved with organizations focused on identifying and prosecuting sexual predators, you are supporting the fight against the demand. Targeting the demand is the fastest way to completely end child slavery. Contact your local or national non-profit organization to find out more ways that you can be involved in the effort to stop child trafficking now.

Chris Harmen is a writer for Stop Child Trafficking Now. SCTNow is a non-profit organization that is working to fight [http://www.sctnow.org]modern day slavery and [http://www.sctnow.org]child trafficking by attacking the demand side of the issue.

The Solution to Combating Youth Crime in Nigeria

By Peter O Osalor

These figures only reconfirm the perception that high growth rates have failed to improve Nigeria's entrenched macro-economic deficiencies, born out of decades of failed governance, mismanagement and conflict. The downstream effects of youth unemployment are fuelling rapid alienation and social unrest across the Nigerian landscape, the immediate symptoms of which are evident in the palpable rise in organised crime, armed insurgency, vandalism and drug trafficking.

The impact of poverty

Human development indices for Africa's second largest economy continue to be appalling despite the country's bountiful resources, escalating oil fortunes and a vigorous reforms programme initiated after the return of democracy in 1999. A 2007 UNDP survey on poverty and extreme deprivation of 108 countries ranked Nigeria at the 80th position, giving it a Human Poverty Index of 37.3 - among the lowest for the entire continent2. Per capita GDP stands at a meager $1,400, with 54% of the population living on less than $1 per day3. For a country that earns an estimated $2.2 million in daily petrodollar revenue, these figures reflect an impudent malaise that has invaded every aspect of Nigerian life.

* 50 million people, most of them women and children, suffer from nutritional deficiencies.
* 10% of Nigerians are malnourished and half the population does not have access to safe drinking water.
* 25% of children below the age of 5 are underweight and 42% display stunted growth.
* Over 3% of adults in the age group 15-49 are infected with HIV/ AIDS4.
* In 1980, the poverty level in Nigerian households with a female head was 27%. The figure rose to 58% by 20015.

The scariest undertone of Nigeria's socio-economic underachievement, by far, is the steady rise in youth crime, nurtured in a climate of increasing national income and the simultaneous failure of employment-generation and poverty alleviation programmes. Armed insurgencies ravaging the oil-rich and volatile Niger Delta region are now competing for space in international headlines with a proliferation of Islamic terrorist offshoots. The season of discontent has especial ramifications for a nation with unemployed millions, and the net effect has been a tragic precipitation of violent crimes: assault, burglary, extortion and kidnapping. Further, decades of social and political turmoil helped turn this strategically located African nation into an established junction for international drug smugglers. Other highlights of Nigeria's prolific crime syndicates are economic fraud - usually in the form of innovative Internet schemes; money laundering and racketeering.

The human impact of this burgeoning criminal activity has been severe. In the country's economic capital Lagos, for instance, 273 civilians and 84 policemen were killed in separate criminal encounters between August 2000 and May 2001. Recent figures are even more disturbing: In 2008 alone, Niger Delta violence claimed 1,000 lives and accounted for 300 abductions, including those of 44 foreign workers.

Providing opportunities

What holds true for Nigeria and most other nations of equivalent human development indicators is the fact that crime is often a means of survival. The idea is corroborated by the preponderance of property offenses across Nigeria - burglary, robbery, fraud etc. So much so that shriveling opportunities for sustainable employment and the resulting surge in crime are two of the biggest hurdles in the way of accelerated economic development. The key challenge for Nigeria's new regime, in the context of its long-term growth prospects, remains the mobilisation of its substantive youth population to lead an entrepreneurial revolution. It is of critical economic as well as social importance on which rests the country's ambitions for sustainable and inclusive growth. The bewildering array of problems hindering the country's successful evolution from third-word stature calls for creative solutions based on a holistic outlook. The following aspects are crucial to any worthwhile government effort aimed at reducing youth crime as part of economic development policy:

* Preserving political stability and effectiveness of democratic institutions to effectively pursue youth and employment revival programmes.

* Improving human development indices, especially per capita income and standard of living, through perseverance policy redirection.

* Enforcing creative poverty alleviation schemes that promote rapid enterprise development in both urban and rural areas.

* Extensively revamping the education system to coincide with local imperatives, especially with regards to vocational training and skill development.

* Fighting institutional corruption and bureaucratic decadence in government agencies for effective policy implementation.

* Rehabilitating criminal elements by equipping them with practical skills and returning them to mainstream activities.

The impediments to entrepreneurial development in Nigeria come primarily in the form of deficient physical infrastructure, poor access to finance and investment and obsolete policy guidelines. The Word Bank recommended as recently as March this year that Abuja liberalise its trade policies as import bans, like one on textile for instance, have only resulted in increased smuggling. The aid agency further suggested the enforcement of a national skills development programme and sharper focus on lifting institutional constraints in high employment businesses in both the formal and informal sectors.

The problem of youth crime in Nigeria is inextricably linked to the state of its economy. High growth figures alone have more than sufficiently proved unequal to tackling inherent imbalances plaguing this nation of untold potential and chronic underachievement. The coming-of-age of Nigeria's economy rests primarily on its ability to harness its substantial youth population and leverage its economic potential for durable, long-term growth.

The Mysteries of Credit #9 - Don't Get Kidnapped

By David Lee George

Is your credit magical? Well you may not think so, but you can feel some form of dark magic when you become a victim of identity theft and that's when you will want something magical to help you. The feeling of this crime is not fun and it is in fact scary even though it is a non violent crime. The fact is that Dallas is one of the fastest growing cities where this crime has seemed to become very popular. You want to keep your identity from being kidnapped but there are not a lot of options that you have. The truth is that your only real protection is to know what to do if you do become a victim.

There are many companies here in Dallas that offers a form of protection but they do not guarantee it. At best these companies make it a little bit more difficult for you to be caught. There real value is that they are monitoring your information closely so if someone does kidnap your identity you will know about it very quickly. This is helpful because the faster you know, the faster you can get your money back, stop it from continuing, and get new information to protect yourself again. You will get new cards, identification, accounts and more, all of which are necessary if you want to avoid going through this again. The good news is that getting your new accounts and things as well as getting your money back will only take weeks.

The bad news is that many banks do not repair your credit score. That is a real shame if you have spent years trying to build it up. The good news is that you can hire a credit repair company to fix it and fix it fast. The process of credit repair is fast, effective, simple and very affordable. http://www.creditrewind.com/credit_repair_dallas_tx.html

Travel Security Expert - Avoid 10 Things That Get Business Owners Kidnapped Or Killed

By Dr Mark Yates

I've spent over 20 years keeping business owners, executives & VIP's alive in 42 countries. Every threat expert knows the security risks of business owners being kidnapped; mugged & murdered overseas are increasing.

Kidnap for ransom is also a growth business sector, as is kidnap for ransom insurance or K&R Insurance. The following travel security expert tips will help raise your security awareness & minimise your personal security risks.

Travel Security Expert - Avoid 10 Things That Get Business Owners Kidnapped Or Killed #1 Under Estimating The Security Risks.

The world of business travel has changed dramatically for business owners in the aftermath of September 11th and the subsequent global war on terror. Security experts all suggest you should heighten your security awareness.

If you are a western business owner, director, executive or senior manager who travels overseas for business, then any professional security experts compiling your travel security threat assessment would designate the security risks as medium to high risk.

Contemporary professional terrorists and organised criminals understand the politics of kidnap for ransom and K&R Insurance.

Even western middle managers on an average western salary are considered lucrative kidnap for ransom targets because kidnappers know if the person is working for a large company then they are likely to pay out on the kidnap for ransom insurance policy.

Every threat expert knows the security risks for business travellers are out there, they are very real, and you should never underestimate these security risks.

Travel Security Expert - Avoid 10 Things That Get Business Owners Kidnapped Or Killed #2 Familiararity & Assumptions.

Two security awareness phrases spring to mind. Familiarity breeds contempt, and a familiar sight provokes no attention. Security experts advise that terrorist groups and organised criminals utilise these two phrases to ensure the success of their kidnap for ransom insurance business.

During several of my business protective service operations I have witnessed sane, rational and intelligent business owners lose all three of these sub conscious defensive functions the moment their aircraft lands in a foreign country.

You might think it's a familiar sight to see an empty coke can under a nearby car in Mexico City. However to the trained eye of a threat expert the security risks indicate it could be a remote controlled improvised explosive device.

Many business owners have been killed because criminals and mafia groups brought them into familiar surroundings in which their subconscious automatically made incorrect assumptions about it being a safe environment. Soviet Bloc Mafia groups are particularly skilled in facilitating this environment.

Travel Security Expert - Avoid 10 Things That Get Business Owners Kidnapped Or Killed #3 Arrogance And Showing Off.

During my 20 plus years providing security experts and threat expert close protection for business owners and directors. I have witnessed many security risks breaches instigated by the business owner-director under my protection.

Several of these security awareness breaches were directly attributable to these business owners showing off, or being unnecessarily arrogant.

Many successful business owners have not achieved success by being a meek little wall flower. They are vocal, occasionally loud, sometimes rude and for some strange reason when in an overseas destination, occasionally downright obnoxious.

Most of these security risks problems manifest because many business owners have an enormous ego to stroke, and because many business owners talk far too much.

Organised terrorists and organised criminals involved in the kidnap for ransom insurance business have low level foot soldiers mounting target intelligence and gathering intelligence on loud mouthed, arrogant business travellers who are showing off.

Showing off and being overtly arrogant is a sure fire recipe for catching any prospective kidnappers attention.

Travel Security Expert - Avoid 10 Things That Get Business Owners Kidnapped Or Killed #4 Habitual Behaviour

All security experts and every individual threat expert will inform you that most business owners are most likely to be attacked or kidnapped when they are entering or leaving a building, or vehicle. One of the main reasons why, is because this is generally when every VIP is most vulnerable.

When working overseas your security risks increase and so your security awareness needs to increase accordingly. Make sure you alter your routes and any other habitual behaviour that terrorist and criminal surveillance operatives may pick up on.

i.e. if you are working in unfamiliar overseas location and you walk or drive to the same hotel bar every evening, then kidnappers seeking K&R Insurance finance will utilise your habitual behaviour against you.

Travel Security Expert - Avoid 10 Things That Get Business Owners Kidnapped Or Killed #5 Lack of Security Awareness & Poor Observation Skills.

Security experts and every threat expert call this lack of security awareness 'Condition White.' In its basic format this means the person is completely oblivious to perceived or actual security risks, threats and problems.

For people going through their day to day existence in 'Condition White,' their observation skills are generally poor and they are unable to recognise increased security risks and threats.

All good security awareness and counter measures should begin before you book your overseas trip. As an overseas business traveller your life is at risk and although the concept of 100% security is non-existent, there are simple security risks countermeasures which you can implement to ensure you are not presenting as a 'Soft Target' to criminals and kidnappers while overseas.

Travel Security Expert - Avoid 10 Things That Get Business Owners Kidnapped Or Killed #6 Overt Corporate Lifestyle.

To minimise the security risks to your personal safety while overseas it is wise not to adopt an overt corporate lifestyle.

Remember professional terrorists, organised criminals and professional kidnappers seeking a K&R Insurance payout, pay for surveillance operatives to surveill high priced, up-market western style hotels to identify travelling western business owners, especially those operating in 'Condition White.'

For example, security awareness dictates you should never carry a business briefcase. Dress down when travelling, don't use corporate luggage tags and stay away from the high class American and UK hotels whenever possible.

And always avoid using a sign written corporate motor pool vehicle belonging to a western business, because adopting an overt corporate lifestyle overseas is a recipe for disaster.

Travel Security Expert - Avoid 10 Things That Get Business Owners Kidnapped Or Killed #7 No Security Back Up Plan B.

All security experts or a professional threat expert organises a security awareness back up plan when mapping out the threat assessment for any VIP under their protection.

In the security risks industry this is generally referred to as 'Plan B.' It is not uncommon for security experts to have multiple alternative back up plans because no matter how good your security awareness plan is, Murphy's Law always materialises to screw things up. Murphy's Law can be summed up by the following; 'what can go wrong will go wrong.'

Travel Security Expert - Avoid 10 Things That Get Business Owners Kidnapped Or Killed #8 Complacency.

Security experts know that complacency kills. It's as simple, harsh and as brutal as that. Terrorists, criminals and kidnappers often strive to lull prospective targets into a false sense of security awareness, because complacency quickly follows and the victim becomes easy prey.

To really understand complacency, think about the immediate aftermath of September 11th citizens initially accepted increased and unprecedented security awareness measures at airports, marine terminals and all borders.

However in a relatively short time, complacency set in as citizens complained bitterly about being inconvienced at airport check in.

When complacency sets in, security awareness levels drop and security risks increase.

Travel Security Expert - Avoid 10 Things That Get Business Owners Kidnapped Or Killed #9 Not Trusting Your Gut Reaction

Security experts say we are all blessed with our own sub conscious defence mechanism. Civilians call it trusting your gut reaction. Security experts call it the 'Fight or Flight Syndrome.' Without getting too technical, we are pre-programmed for fight or flight, and it happens in the blink of an eye.

I've heard many a threat expert explain to security risks students that if something doesn't quite feel right, then you should always go with your gut reaction. I agree, because despite the very best security awareness planning I've often had to change tack because my gut was telling me something wasn't quite right.

Travel Security Expert - Avoid 10 Things That Get Business Owners Kidnapped Or Killed #10 No Kidnap For Ransom K&R Insurance

If ever the phrase a 'No Brainer' had a place in security, then it is when any business owner or traveller visits any overseas location without having a kidnap for ransom insurance policy or K&R Insurance.

K&R Insurance is no longer reserved for multi millionaires. It is an affordable business expense which should be utilised by every business owner traveller visiting any destination overseas to conduct business.

It's not necessarily going to prevent your kidnapping, although some policies come with caveats that you must attend a security risks awareness training programme. But having K&R insurance might mean you are released safely by your kidnappers. [http://www.markdyates.bcoss.org/]Dr. Mark D. How Can Online Fax Increase Your Productivity?

By Tina L Douglas

There is a lot of information out there on the cost of sending a fax on the internet versus sending a fax using a conventional fax machine. You may have heard that it's cheaper and faster, but what are the other benefits of sending faxes online? There may be more than you think.

Using your computer rather than a fax machine cuts down on the amount of paper that you use, so it's more environmentally friendly. Since fax machines can be one of the worst producers of paper waste in the workplace, this can really have a large impact. You can use the web interface on the service's website to preview any fax that you get, and then you can decide if it is something you would like to print out. If not, you can just delete the file. This can even allow your office to fax without using any paper at all; creating no paper waste whatsoever. Of course, you can easily print out a fax if you want to, but, unlike with older machines, you don't have to every time anymore.

You may have left important file sitting on the table at home before, when you really needed to take them with you to work. Or you might have left files at work when you should have brought them home with you. Internet faxing stores your faxes in an online account as digital files. This means it doesn't matter if you leave a printed copy of something important somewhere else, or even if you lost the file altogether. You can just get online and you have access to your files. This saves you a lot of worry, and you can access your faxes instantly. You can also save the files and burn them to a data disc, for easy storage and backup. This takes up a lot less space and it's easier to find your files when you compare it to storing things in a file cabinet. It used to be easy to lose your old faxes, and hard to find them if you ever needed them again. Online fax makes it a lot easier to find your faxes and to access them at any time.

Another reason older machines could cause you to waste time was because they could only send one fax at a time and oftentimes, an office only had one fax machine. If someone else was using it, you'd have to wait your turn. And because there machines could be fairly slow, or the line could be busy, you might have ended up waiting a long time. With online fax services, you don't have to wait your turn foe the machine anymore. Each employee is able to fax from his or her own desk, and it's possible for everyone to be sending faxes at the same time. If you forgot to fax something at work, you don't need to go back to work to fax it, either. You can fax it from your home, or anywhere else that has an internet connection.

Does Your Content Management System Match Your Content Strategy? Want an SEO Boost?

By Adam Fischer

There may be many things that you are looking for in a Content Management System (CMS). But before you get too far in your search process, ask yourself: "What am I trying to accomplish with my Website content?" In other words, the content strategy portion of your online is still the paramount consideration. After you have defined what buyer personas you are speaking to, what target customer segments you wish to serve, what kinds of valuable content you can provide them, then you may be ready to determine which CMS is the best suited to putting that content online and distributing it.

Another critical consideration is how you plan to use the CMS. Before you commit to spending money on a CMS, documenting your needs could be a valuable step in preparing yourself for that decision. Who will use the system? What content formats will you make use of? How often will you create and post new content? What other tools do you use that the CMS will need to integrate with? If you have not sufficiently defined these matters, you may struggle to extract value from whichever CMS you choose.

Perhaps one of the most valuable attributes a CMS can possess these days is Social Media integration. The ability to create content, often in the form of blog posts, and to autopublish it to a variety of social media sites offers a big productivity boost as well as a practical benefit to your organization in terms of SEO.

AIM thinks another valuable feature of CMS would be the ability to work with content in many different formats. For example, ease of embedding YouTube video, or other custom elements such as Twitter feeds, or flash modules. And the ability of the CMS to render on mobile devices cannot be undervalued. The ability of employees to access and manage content effectively from wherever they are and from the device of their choice will improve productivity and customer service. And customers appreciate the ability to be able to use a laptop, iPhone, Blackberry or iPad depending on the situation.

CRM Integration is another consideration. If your Website is used primarily for inbound marketing, with the goal of increasing Website traffic and generating high value b2b leads, then at some point you may need to integrate your CMS with a CRM application in order to effectively manage those leads.

Step back and think about your needs today, and where you are going tomorrow. Develop a content strategy. Reflect on your organization and the separation of roles and responsibilities. As you move forward, what do you need from a CMS? The last thing you want is an overlapping patchwork of applications that can only handle part of the job, which ends up resulting in a duplication of content across multiple applications and platforms which is simply bad content strategy.

Pick the right CMS up front, rather than expecting one to unwind the tangle that can be created by failing to develop a content strategy. If you would like some information on choosing a CMS or SEO optimization for getting web leads - come visit us here http://bit.ly/aR1AFR

Choosing a Fulfillment Partner and Inventory Management

By Bret Ridgway

If your fulfillment partner isn't a print-on-demand facility they should maintain some inventory on hand so that orders can be fulfilled as soon as they come in. You're going to need to establish reorder points and reorder quantities for your various products. In other words, when you get down to some predetermined quantity of a product your fulfillment house will automatically make more.

These values are usually initially determined for new products by your best guesstimate of what quantity of product you expect to sell in a certain period of time. Estimate too high and you invest more in inventory then you needed to up front.

Estimate too low and you risk running out of product and having customers wait longer to receive their orders. This is especially a challenge on larger new product launches where anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand units of a product might be sold.

Over time you'll get a feel for how much of a product you're going to move on a consistent basis. You can then adjust reorder points and quantities based on this volume. The objective is to never run out of inventory entirely so orders can be fulfilled promptly.

You'll need to decide if you want to automatically have your fulfillment partner rework any product returns and place back into inventory for you.

You'll maintain inventory within some range so that additional units are produced and put into inventory before you've entirely run out of your stock of that product. It is much easier for your fulfillment partner to pre-establish these guidelines and to not have to await your approval every time you get low on product to go ahead and produce more.

If you're going to update a product you'll need to decide what you want done with the existing inventory of that product. Do you continue to ship the previous version until you run out and then begin shipping the revision? Or do you rework the previous version to make it consistent with the new version? Or do you
version until you run out and then begin shipping the revision? Or do you rework the previous version to make it consistent with the new version? Or do you throw away all old inventory and immediately switch to a revised version?

The answer is influenced by different factors. How significant the updates to the product are is a key factor. If you have a multiple component product and, for example, you made changes to only 1 disc out of 10 in a set then you'll probably want to rework the existing inventory. But, if there are several updates to the product then the quantity remaining on hand of the older version may be the deciding factor.

Just be sure that the product you ship to your customer matches up with what they purchased from your website or from you at an event. Don't deliver an older version of a product to a customer if the latest whiz bang concept covered only in the newer version is what induced them to purchase in the first place.

The questions you should ask:

• What are your recommendations on the establishment of a reorder point and a reorder quantity for my product?

• How do you handle it if I don't want to pre-approve automatic production of more units?

• What is the process when I want to update an existing product?

Affiliate Marketing - What Products to Promote and Why?

By Spencer Jones

Are you new to affiliate marketing or are you someone who is already in to affiliate marketing but not making enough money to make ends meet? Your problem could be that you are promoting the wrong products. In this article I am going to show you exactly what kind of products to promote and why. This will help you go from just a few hundred dollars to a few thousand dollars every month.

There are affiliate programs available for almost everything you can possibly think. There are so much things you can promote that there's good probability that you end up promoting the wrong products. So what kind of products do you need to promote?

The answer can be simple when I say whatever sells. But the problem comes when majority of the physical products sell as good online as they do offline. What's the reason? It's just because they are available everywhere around you. Another big reason why selling physical product can be a bad idea is that, they only pay you a measly commission. You are in fact lowering your standard by working for some cheap dollars.

So what is your best option? Simple... Always promote digital stuffs when you are doing the marketing in the online digital medium. The benefits of promoting digital products far outweighs any physical product promotions.

Here Are Some Of The Benefits Of Selling Digital Products

1. Digital information products pay a very high commissions. Sometime as high as 75% to 100% of the original price. Never heard of a 100% commission product? Yes that's no typo, there are some digital products that offers 100% commissions to affiliates. They are doing it just to either build their list or to get sales from affiliate links inside their digital product?

2. Digital products are delivered digitally, almost instantly after the payment is made. This again accounts for the high demand for digitally deliverable products. Because of this there are no delivery issues or damages and complaints.

3. You can easily offer digital products as bonus to make more affiliate sales. But it won't be reasonable to offer an ebook when someone buys a physical product like a television of fridge. They are just not used to digital goods and they are not going to appreciate your bonus.

4. The demand for information products will never die. In fact the entire internet is full of information. All content whether articles or videos or audios are nothing more than information. (Except for the entertainment stuffs like music) There is an unending demand for information and the demand will only grow by time. This is why digitally deliverable information products are so easy to sell.

Now that you know what kind of products to promote and why, jump in and start planing ways to take your digital products and information marketing business to the next level.

Social Networking Sites

By Tina L Douglas

Social networking sites are officially the hottest trend in the world of networking and establishing connections. It can significantly increase your circle of friends and it can also expose you to people who pretend to be friends but actually have malicious intents.

Kids are one of the most avid fan of social networking sites, thus it is important that we secure their surfing habits because a lot of scammers, spammers, identity theft criminals and hackers all abound online.

Here are some tips:

Explain to your child that there are certain pieces of personal information that should be private, and therefore should not be shared on whichever social networking site they join into. These personal data includes your child's full name, birthday, telephone number and address. No child is too young nor too old to understand this very simple concept.

Discuss with your kids that they should only post information that they feel comfortable sharing with other people. If, for instance, your child is not comfortable with seeing how she looked way back from kindergarten, do not have it scanned and posted. Doing otherwise can make your child hinder from joining social networking sites.

Adjust your child's privacy settings and clearly specify the "levels" of friendship before you start adding people to your "networks." Whenever possible, specify that "only friends" can gain access to your personal details.

Your kids should be informed that any information that they will post online does not have an "undo button." Your kids may be too young to handle responsibilities but there are kids who can be very witty and smart to understand this very simple idea.

Talk about sex with your kids. If you don't talk about it, then chances are they will seek for answers online. While there are a lot of websites that can explain the details fully to your kids, talking about it at home can be very confident and independent. They should always learn it from you.

Gut-feel is something that is in between true and false but that has actually happened. If, for instance, your child is browsing to a certain site and a pop up box appeared asking for your child's personal details, your child has to be very careful with what you share and which you don't. Ask them to ignore these pop ups.

Once your child starts to engage in social networking sites and their circle of friends starts to grow, there is no stopping them. There will be instances when you will not know who they are chatting with and whether the other person is the person who he or she claims that she is.

You have to be very observant of this strategy because a lot of identity theft crimes have been traced back to children chatting with another adult who pretends to be mere six or seven years old, and asking them of their personal account information. This is the information age and the presence of chat and social networking site has become a fad for children of all ages (okay, so maybe children below the age of 3). For this reason, every parent should be vigilant of the things that your kid's uses and be very diligent in protecting your kids from identity theft activities.

How to Avoid Being a Victim of Identity Theft Through Online Shopping

By Tina L Douglas

It is important to keep your shopping experience safe to avoid being a victim of identity theft or online scams. It cannot be denied that online shopping can be very beneficial: it is economical since you don't have to pay for a cab and you will incur less expenses if you shop online; it is convenient because you can shop at any hours of the day, even if you're wearing nothing but your night dress; and it's just as safe as shopping "offline" where you have to actually go to the mall.

Just like any other good thing, online shopping has its own impediments like identity theft but that should not stop you from transacting. If you want to keep your online shopping experience a very safe one, follow these tips:

1. Transact only with legitimate sites and with bona fide sellers. Always confirm the seller's physical address and phone number so that if any problems occur, you know where you can contact them.

2. Confirm the product before purchasing. Before you confirm the product, make sure that you've asked all the pertinent questions about the product as well as all the other information that you wanted to ask the seller. Read the description carefully. If you are purchasing clothes, know what size fits you "just right."

3. If you've already made up your mind on which product to purchase, know the price including the shipping details. Shipping and handling are other costs that you will be required to pay depending on the arrangement between you and the seller. It is important that you know about all these so that you'll know how much you are going to pay exactly.

4. It is advised that you use your credit or debit card for maximum consumer protection. However, you should be aware that credit card numbers can be hacked by malicious individuals or identity theft criminals and used for their own financial benefit. Before you share private information, make sure that you are over a secure server so that if anyone tries to intercept your personal data, they will not be able to easily read it.

5. Before registering with a particular site, read their terms of agreement, end user agreements, refund policies, or privacy statements. These are very important documentations that have a very significant bearing on every transaction that you will engage yourself into. The privacy policy will state how your personal information will be treated, managed and protected. If you really care about your information, this is the first information that you have to read.

6. Keep a record of all your online transactions. E-receipts are often sent to your email and once you receive them, print them and have them stored in a log file. When your bill arrives, then you can cross check your receipts with the charges that are included in your account. This way, you will immediately know if someone else has been using your account for their various identity theft activities.

Cross Border Fraud - The New Fraud in Town

By Tina L Douglas

Cross border scams refer to any fraudulent activities that seek to profit from the personal information of other people. These fraudulent activities are often initiated online and they victimize unsuspicious individuals who are totally unaware of what they are getting themselves into. For a certain scam to be qualified as a cross-border scam, it should include a mention of foreign countries or activities to lure its victims into providing their personal information for their identity theft activities.

If you do not want to fall prey to these cross-border scams (and any other scams for that matter), follow these tips:

1. Verify the identity of the person that you are dealing with before you provide any personal information. The internet is characterized by anonymity and people are not always who they say they are online. Unless you can verify that the identity of the person you are talking to is legitimate, do not provide your personal information or any other information.

2. Do not join foreign lotteries. These are illegal activities. Their solicitation is bogus and you will never win anything from them.

3. If you receive any email from a foreign national asking you for help through wire money transfers to be used in any charitable activity, do not respond to them and delete them immediately. They can simply be fraudulent emails who want to take advantage of your "noble" nature.

4. Immediately delete any unsolicited emails that requests for your money, credit card information, bank account numbers and other personal data. These emails are fraudulent in nature and would only seek to collect your personal information for identity theft activities.

5. If you are selling any merchandise online through social networking sites or auction sites, do not accept check payments from people who will offer you for more than the actual purchase price. The idea might be tempting and their story might convince you but it is dubious that anyone would actually offer to pay for your merchandise at a higher price.

What you have to remember is the fact that, while the internet provides buyers and sellers equal access to a vast world of commodities and services, con artists/identity theft criminals are also benefiting from this very same access. For this reason, you have to be always on guard. Taking preventive measures against online fraud can help you maximize your online experience as you face head one the many global advantages of electronic commerce. Safeguards can also minimize your attractiveness to identity theft criminals as well as minimize the risk of being defrauded.

The safeguards that you need to take are not very complex measures. As a matter of fact, they are very simple steps that only require you to be very vigilant and very careful with whom you share your personal information. Your identity is your most valuable asset. You should be protective about it whenever possible. If you don't want to be a victim of identity theft, do not fall for cross country scams.

The Implementation of New Courier Software

By Calvin Couris

Buying new software for a courier company is something that can help you to edge out your competitors by allowing you to offer better services to your customers. However, if you have problems when putting that new software into play, it could cause customer dissatisfaction which could actually cause you to come out behind where you started. Implementing courier software is something that needs to be though out, and you need to use available tools like a dispatch software demo to make sure that you are not going to have any problems when you decide to take your new software live.

When you're putting a new courier program into effect at your company, one of the things that you're going to have to focus on the most is the training that you put into your company on the new software. When you're trying to put a new program into place, if your employees don't know how to use it, you're going to encounter numerous problems.

First of all, you're going to have to work hard at training the staff within the dispatch staff and at the home office how to use the new program. Because they are involved in so much of the operations of the company, if they can't use the entire program with confidence, problems are likely to happen. Also, once a problem does happen, if they're not completely trained in the program's use, they are unlikely to know how to properly troubleshoot.

The staff in the field also needs to know how the software works in detail in order to do their job. Their mobile units will be running the program, and they will receive all of their orders through it. They will also need to know how to update status information and send information back to the dispatch office, so training is going to be essential to keeping your employees moving at a reasonable pace while in the field.

Don't forget that your customers also need to be trained in a way. This means that you have to find a way to let them know about the software that they use, that which they might access through your website, and if any changes have been made to it. Sending out an email with a manual or PDF can help them to understand how to use the new software, which will go a long way to keeping them satisfied.

Saraki escapes Assasins as Gunmen attack Home

Four armed men, suspected to be hired assassins, invaded the Abuja residence of a senator from Kwara State, Gbemisola Saraki, daughter of Olusola Saraki, the Second Republic senate leader, in the early hours of yesterday, after overpowering her security aides.
The men undertook a meticulous search of the entire building, looking for Ms Saraki, but had to abandon their mission when they couldn’t locate the senator who had travelled out of Abuja days earlier, after the Senate announced its recess.
The men, who made enough racket to wake up all the senator’s aides and other residents living in the building, had arrived around 1am yesterday and proceeded to search the rooms, demanding to see Mrs Saraki.
“They came around with sophisticated weapons,” a family member said. “Ms. Saraki was however not at home when the suspected assassins forced their way into her house. They took her security aides and other members of her family hostage, demanding her whereabouts.” According to eyewitness account, the thugs were speaking in Yoruba, Ms Saraki’s language, claiming that they were sent from Ilorin, her home state, to kill the senator..
Emmanuel Ojukwu, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police, said in a telephone that the police is treating the crime as a “burglary and theft attempt.” He also said that his men have not discovered any new information on the incident.
Family sources however said the armed men ransacked Ms Saraki’s house and locked her family inside a room after they could not find her.
A member of the family said the raid lasted for almost one hour and the police only arrived the scene hours after the men had left.
The senate leadership condemned the attack and asked the police to commence immediate investigation. “We received with shock news of the attempt on the life of Senator Gbemisola Saraki,” Ayogu Eze, the senate spokesperson said. “We condemn the violation of the sanctity of Ms. Saraki’s household and the abuse of the constitutional rights of her relations and domestic staff. We call on the Inspector General of Police and other security agencies to step into this matter and fish out the master-minds and the culprits in this heinous act.”
Ms Saraki could not be reached for her comments hours after the incident. However, on her Facebook page, she posted the message that, “The protection of Allah shall be banner over the lives of souls whose paths are always shining light on others.”
Bad omen for 2011
Ms Saraki, who switched to the senate in 2003 after she had spent four years as a member of the House of Representatives, hopes to take over from her brother, Bukola Saraki, as the governor of Kwara State. The brother, whose final tenure ends next year, is reportedly not keen on handing over to his sister.
One of her aides said the fact that the men claimed to be from Ilorin might mean that some people were trying to frighten her away from the contest or worse, to ensure that she was in no position to contest.
Mr Eze said Nigerians should stop employing violence in politics.
“Politics of violence and brigandage belong to our regrettable past and any attempt to return us to that inglorious era is unfortunate and completely unacceptable,” he said.
“Political or other differences should be resolved through dialogue and consensus building and not by recourse to thuggery and arm-twisting. Our new politics should not be foreshadowed by threats of violence and thuggery. This development obviously sends a wrong signal and we urge the police to deal with this matter comprehensively.”

4 Steps to Promoting Your New Information Product

By Wade Davis

An e-book or information product is one of the best ways to use the Internet to make money. Once you have an information product written and ready to sell there are a few methods that you can use to really optimize your profits. Here are four steps that I suggest you take to really maximize your profit potential and make the most amount of money possible.

The first thing that you should do is sign your product up as an affiliate at ClickBank or Paydotcom. Since information products and e-books online have an unlimited amount of supply it will not hurt you to offer high commission percentages to people that are willing to sell your product. This is free advertising and a very profitable method to increase the amount of money you make with your information product.

When you sign it up at these affiliate websites people will be able to view your product in the marketplace and have a special link to promote your product so you both can make money. You should also set up an affiliate program page on your website to allow your affiliates to download banners and other promotional materials that will help them sell your information product.

Second, you can go after affiliates yourself without just assuming that they will find you in the marketplace. Find websites pertaining to your topic and e-book and e-mail these webmasters to see if they might be interested in promoting your product. You may not get any replies or you may be rejected a few times but the more that you send out the more chance that you have that someone will say yes. Take a whole day to send out e-mails and find people to promote your product. Let them know it's a win-win situation and all they have to do is put up a simple link or banner to make money.

The third thing that you should have already done is to include keywords on your website that will land you some easy targeted traffic. You also want to make sure that the content on your website is very good and one that will spread virally and naturally online. If your content is good, people will link to you and your website will move-up the search engine rankings and you will receive free traffic.

Step four involves the normal promotion techniques that you should do with your new website. You should write a press release and send it out to the various press release directories. You should also write plenty of articles, participate in discussion boards and forums, comment on other peoples blogs, and even list your website in the various directories on the Internet. The more links that you get out there, the more chance you have that people will find your website and buy your new product.

A Financial Model That Drives Your Success

http://4eebc9kpx6la7p8r0mn80xcl4e.hop.clickbank.net/
By Ken Kaufman

INTRODUCTION

"Creating a solid financial model and using it to run your business is one of the fundamental actions required to build a successful business" (Lance Weatherby Blog, 18 Oct 2007). Assembling the dynamic and fixed parts of the financial structure of a business creates a powerful tool - a financial model. However, failing to use it to run and improve your business renders it powerless. We hope to briefly discuss some of the benefits that may come if you discipline yourself to participate in and regularly revisit this exercise.

WHY CREATE THE MODEL

Here are the words of a budding entrepreneur: "I had a mentor who sat me down and built a financial model for me. He asked me, 'How many days does it take to do this? How many people does it take to do that?' Building on the answers to those and many other questions, he was able to predict the company's future several years down the line, a big plus in meeting with venture capitalists" ("Speaking From Experience," Entrepreneur.com, 11 Jan 2008). Your model can help you see years into the future and help you appropriately capitalize your business.

FORECASTING THE FUTURE

Business owners often see no value in trying to understand the future because, as they might say, "I don't know what's going to happen in the future." While their statement is probably true, it fails to consider that forecasting the future empowers them to make the best decisions as the future becomes the present.

Here is an example from a real company doing about $10 million in annual sales. The company saw a decrease in its sales in 2007 of 21%. The firm's financial model helped the owners maneuver through its unforeseen internal and external challenges, tweak part of their revenue and cost structure, and still have a very profitable year. More importantly, the firm will, as a result of its corrections in 2007, increase sales in 2008 by at least 44% and reach an entirely new level of profitability. Without their financial model as a guide, they would have lost money in 2007 and would be struggling to return to a break-even status in 2008.

VIABILITY AND CREDIBILITY

You will struggle to receive debt and/or equity financing if you do not have a firm grasp of your financial model. Lenders, angel investors, venture capitalists, and often friends and family want to see the financial model and understand how it works. They will ask questions about your assumptions and may want to look at your historical performance to validate your claims. Your model will also clarify the amount of external money required, your intended use of the funds, and the repayment period or return on investment your financier can expect.

CONCLUSION

Regardless of if you need to raise money to take your firm to where you want it to go, having a financial model will help you run and improve your business. Throughout my   rel=nofollow [http://www.cfowise.com/careers/]CFO career, I have used financial modeling to help companies maximize their cash flow and improve their profitability. If you use it correctly, your model will be a driving force in your success.

Which Government Websites Have Product Recall Information?

By Everett Sizemore

There is no one government agency in charge of issuing recall
notices for all products. Instead, different products fall under
different jurisdictions, each of which is handled by a
completely separate agency. In this article we will explain the
jurisdiction of each of the six major government agencies in
charge of recalling products and issuing recall alerts.

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) - http://www.fda.gov:
The FDA is probably most thought of when the word “recall”
comes up. It is obvious that the FDA deals with food and drug
issues, but they are also in charge of testing, monitoring and
recalling medical devices (pacemakers, contact lenses...),
animal feed, cosmetics, and products with the potential to cause
health-related side effects, such as cell phones and lasers.
Although the FDA is in charge of “food,” they also share that
responsibility with the next federal agency…

United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) -
http://www.usda.gov:
The USDA was founded by President Abraham Lincoln in 1862, and
has been involved in a variety of agricultural initiatives ever
since. Not only is the USDA steward to our nation's 192 million
acres of national forests, and providing food to children
through school breakfast and lunch programs, but the agency is
also responsible for the safety of meat, poultry (including
egg), milk and fish products. These responsibilities often
encompass the study of pesticide use, which overlaps with the
next governmental recall arm...

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - http://www.epa.gov:
The EPA, in addition to the many other responsibilities
involved in protecting our environment, are charged with the
recalling of products that threaten to harm humans, animals, or
the environment in which we live. For instance, recently the EPA
ordered five national retail chains to recall a brand of spray
confetti string which contained banned hydro chlorofluorocarbons
blamed for depleting the ozone layer. This very same product
could have also been recalled by another government agency,
however, for its highly flammable contents, which are often
sprayed over people at birthday parties near flaming candles.
The agency that would be responsible for this type of recall
is...

Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) -
http://www.cpsc.gov:
The CPSC is in charge of protecting the public from
"unreasonable risks of serious injury or death from more than
15,000 types of consumer products under the agency's
jurisdiction". They handle recalls for a host of potentially
dangerous products, from toys with choking hazards to heaters
with propensity to start a fire. Most products with a defect of
some kind will find their way into the CPSC database of recalled
consumer products. But if that product has wheels and an engine,
or is a part of a product that has wheels and an engine, you
might be better off researching at the next governmental
agency...

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) -
http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov:
The NHTSA was established to reduce deaths, injuries and
economic losses resulting from motor vehicle crashes. They set
and enforce safety standards for motor vehicles and vehicle
parts, and provide studies and reports on anything related to
motor vehicle use, from tires and seatbelts, to SUVs and cell
phone use while driving. If you want to know if the used car you
just purchased has any defective auto parts, the NHTSA database
is a good start. However, if you just purchased a used boat, the
following agency is better suited for your needs...

US Coast Guard - http://www.uscg.mil:
You probably don’t think of product recalls when someone
mentions the Coast Guard. However, in addition to their duties
to patrol America’s coast line and assist those in distress, the
Coast Guard also tests, reports on, and recalls boats, boating
parts, and marine safety devices like flares and life jackets.
But good luck finding recall information on the Coast Guard’s
website!

As you can see, the responsibilities of each agency overlap to
some degree with other agencies. Furthermore, issuing recall
alerts is only a small part of each organization’s
responsibility. This is why is can be difficult, time-consuming
and frustrating to locate the information you’re looking for
among these six websites. Luckily, this problem has been
remedied by an ex-journalist with a passion for social corporate
responsibility and citizen journalism…

US Recall News – http://www.usrecallnews.com:
US Recall News is a non-governmental website that brings
together recall alerts from each of the six major government
agencies listed above, and separates them into various
categories. The alerts are then archived at the end of each
month, and remain searchable from the website.
