Residents of Oluwole Bisiriyu street, Ilori
Coker Crescent, Kayode Williams estate and Akute-Odo, in Iju-Ishaga area
of Lagos state were shocked Saturday morning when they woke up to
discover that the air around their area had been polluted.
The pollution led to some of the residents suffering stomach upset, nausea and cough.
It was gathered that the pollution was caused by Premium motor Spirit (PMS) that was leaking from a Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) pipeline, which was vandalized overnight.
Confirming the incident to Channels Television, the information officer of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, south west zone, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye said the agency, alerted the safety personnel of the NNPC as soon as it got the complaint.
NNPC officials immediately responded and fixed the ruptured pipeline.
