State Command of the State Security Service (SSS) have apprehended the
alleged kidnappers of Auditor-General of the Federal Capital Territory,
Mr. Fred Omoaka, and a lecturer of the Ambrose Ali University, Ekpoma.
The state Director of the SSS, Mr. Bakore Tukur while parading the suspects before Edo state Governor, Adams Oshiomhole and journalists said the suspects were arrested at various locations in the state.
According to the State Director SSS, kidnappers of the Auditor-General were arrested in the process of collecting the sum of N10 million ransom.
The command also recovered locally made guns and cut-to-size shot gun from them.
The suspects when interrogated by the governor explained their level of involvement in the crime.
On his part, Governor Adams Oshiomhole commended the service for its efforts in combating kidnapping and expressed optimism that criminals in the state would be defeated; stressing that Nigeria would win the war against criminals.
Mr. Tukur revealed that when investigation is concluded they would be charged to court. He also thanked the state government for assistance rendered to the agency in combating criminals in the state.
