Portuguese Club Coach Ticks Eagles For Afcon 2013 Trophy

The head coach of Portuguese club Farense; Antonio Afonso has ticked the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the 2013 Afcon trophy.
Afonso whose side Farense fell to the sword of the Super Eagles 5-0 at the Browns Sports and Leisure Club in Faro on Tuesday couldn’t but praise the coach Keshi-led squad saying the two-time champions showed what strength they were made of going into the tournament holding in South Africa.
Afonso said he believes that the Super Eagles will emerge winner of the 2013 Afcon.
“The Super Eagles have what it takes to win the championship, but you must take each game as it comes and adopt different styles for different opposition,”
Afonso went further commending the style and strong points of play of the Super Eagles. He said the Super Eagles are definitely amongst the top favourites of the Afcon 2013 even though he has not seen the other teams coming for the same tournament play.
The Super Eagles rounded up their preparations for the African cup of nations with a clinical 5-0 victory over Coach Antonio Afonso’s Farense.
Striker Ikechukwu Uche bagged a hat-trick while goals from midfielder Mikel Obi and striker Emmanuel Emenike completed the demolition of the Portuguese club.
The team will leave for South Africa today, January 16th to begin its quest for honours at the continent’s biggest football showpiece.
Nigeria has been drafted with defending champions Zambia, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.
