The Chairman of the Edo State Subsidy
Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), Lucky Imaseun has
debunked claims that the programme is merely political and has not
achieved its aim of poverty alleviation.
Speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s breakfast programme, Sunrise Daily, Mr Imaseun said the programme is not aimed at a single political party but on all Nigerians.
Last month, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) had accused the Federal Government of using the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), for political purposes in preparation of the 2015 general elections.
The party said the programme which was set up to manage savings from the oil subsidy withdrawal is currently being used to channel funds to members and cronies of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who are heading the state chapters of SURE-P.
