Ahead of the Saturday’s local council
elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Abuja police
command has urged residents to eschew all forms of violence and lawless
acts that can mar the success of the elections.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Hyelhira Daniel in a statement announced the restriction of movement within the territory on Saturday 16 March from 7am to 5pm while movement for those coming in from various axis connecting the FCT, would be restricted on Friday 15 March at mid-night to 5pm the next day.
The command assured residents of maximum security to enhance peace, emphasizing that residents can go out enmasse to vote for their preferred candidates without fear of intimidation.
