The Nigerian Army has vowed to defend the unity of Nigeria and sustain democracy in the country.
The General Officer Commanding 2 Division, Major General Ahmed Jibrin stated this in Edo State when he paid a visit to Governor Adams Oshiomhole as part of his familiarisation tour of units under his command.
Maj. Gen. Jibrin pointed out that since development could only thrive in a peaceful environment, the Nigerian Army would do all its power to promote peace and unity in the country.
Maj. Gen. Jibrin during his visit to the 4 Brigade Garrison and 322 Artillery Regiment in Benin City assured his men of improved living conditions and advised them to be responsible and obedient at all times.
Governor Oshiomhole, on his part, commended the officers and men of the 4 Brigade who he said had been helpful in internal policing and other security issues.
