Six people have been reported killed after gunmen stormed a mosque in Sokoto state, early Wednesday morning.
One of the soldiers, who attempted to repel the attack, was killed and another was injured.
Five of the gunmen also lost their lives in the exchange of fire.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers went to the mosque at the Bado quarters along Airport road, in Sokoto, as part of the early morning worshippers. They reportedly opened fire on the soldiers immediately after the prayers.
The shootout which began around 6:10am reportedly lasted till 9:30 am.
