The
National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has
decried the increase in the abuse of narcotics and other prescription
drugs.
Speaking in Abuja at the launch of the 2012 International Narcotics Control Board’s Report, the Director General of the Agency, Doctor Paul Orhii, said the abuse of cannabis appears to be on the increase. He announced plans to collaborate with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to control and prevent illicit drug use.
The Chairman of the NDLEA, Mr. Ahmadu Giade on his part, said efforts should be made to incapacitate every criminal group financially, adding that there is a worrisome influence of drugs on crime which is threatening global peace.
