The deputy governor of Cross-Rivers, Efiok
Cobham has called for increased patrol of Calabar waterways especially
the area bordering the ceded Bakassi by security operatives to check the
high level of criminality going on in the area.
Mr. Cobham made the call in Calabar when he received the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Major General Adebayo Olaniyi, in his office, where he lamented the recent abduction of seven foreign nationals amongst others vices across the country. He said that it was a major security challenge that needs a pro-active approach to save the nation from such national embarrassment.
The deputy governor called on the relevant government agencies to rise to the challenge of ensuring that the necessary machinery and tools are providedfor the armed forces to enable them carry out their statutory duties at all times
