The Kwara state government on Thursday said
that it will discipline anyone or group that incites violence or takes
the law into their hands under any guise.
In a statement issued in Ilorin following reported attacks on churches in the state capital by yet unidentified persons, the commissioner for Information and Communications, Tunji Moronfoye condemned the attacks and stated that the state police command has been advised to identify and prosecute the perpetrators regardless of their status.
Mr Moronfoye stressed that the state government will not tolerate any further acts of criminality and threats to public order, emphasizing that all legal measures will be employed to ensure that Kwara State retains its reputation for peace and harmony among its peoples.
The commissioner advised anyone with a grievance to employ dialogue as well as the courts of law as there can be no justification for wanton destruction of lives and property under any guise.
Meaningful growth and development, he said, can only thrive when there is peace, adding that the state government will not allow trouble makers to distract it from its determined efforts to create economic prosperity for all Kwarans.
