15 Feared Dead As Petrol Tanker Crashes Into Commercial Bus

An accident involving two petrol tankers and a commercial bus occurred on Sunday morning at Odo Oba near Ogbomosho killing an unspecified number of people and injuring several others.

The accident which occurred when one of the petrol tankers, coming from Katsina State tried to avoid a bad road thereby had an head on collision with the commercial bus coming from the opposite direction.
The National Emergency Management Agency confirmed the crash, saying three persons escaped.
A woman, who survived the accident narrated what happened in Hausa to Channels Television, said that the driver of the commercial bus was trying to avoid a head on collision with the trailer when the accident occurred and that she saw a passenger sitting beside her burning.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the second petrol tanker had stopped by to assist the victims of the accident when his own vehicle was gutted by the flames from the burning vehicles.
There were conflicting figures on the number of dead and those still trapped in the burning vehicles but a text message from the Ogbomosho unit commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) G. A. Adedipe said three people died, two trapped in the burning vehicles while nine that were injured have been taken to a private clinic.
