The Enugu state Police Command has claimed
that it foiled an attempt by four persons to blow up the Akanu Ibiam
International Airport, Enugu with explosives and the four suspects
arrested.
The state’s police Public Relations Officer, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the arrest said when the suspect’s vehicle was searched by the operatives of the Explosive Ordinance Department (EOD) of the state police command, some items believed to be dangerous fireworks contained in two cartons were discovered.
He added that the suspects, whose identities had been kept secret for security reasons, were apprehended while driving to the airport at about 8.30AM, Thursday morning.
They (the suspects) are helping the police with their investigation, he added.
