Former military Head of State, General
Abdulsalam Abubakar (Rtd) has berated the activities of the dreaded
Islamist sect Boko Haram.
The former head of state said “the activities of the Boko Haram sect are destroying the economy of the north’’.
Abubukar was speaking at the inauguration of members of the Ibrahim Babangida University Lapai Endowment Fund at the Government House in Minna, the Niger state capital.
He lamented that the bombings in some parts of the north has destroyed the night business activities which used to be the big part of the region economy.
He further maintained that the carnage and senseless loss of lives is also having a negative effect on the national economy, a situation that should not be allowed to continue in the New Year.
He however appealed to the sect and any other group who have grievances against the government to come out and negotiate.
