Lagos Govt Assures of Justice in Cynthia's Murder

The Lagos State Government said yesterday that it will ensure that justice is done in the case of the murdered General's daughter, Miss Cynthia Osokogu.
Speaking through the Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Ade Ipaye, said the government has decided to reverse its decision to charge one of the pharmacists, Mr. Orji Osita, who had been set free by a DPP advice dated Nov. 1, to ensure justice and fairness is done in the case.
Two pharmacists, Osita Orji and Maduakor Chukwunonso charged along with suspects apprehended over the killing of Cynthia in Festac area were set free based on a DPP's advice issued before the Attorney-General intervened.
The revelation came, as he said a data bank, which currently contained 59,000 records, out of which 24,000 are with biometric details of awaiting trials has been established to record details of criminal cases in the state.
He said although the two pharmacists were initially set free by the court, Osita was re-arrested based on a new advice.
Ipaye said: "The pharmacist that was released was the one that sold the drug and not the pharmacist that persuaded the other to sell the drug used on the deceased," he said.
