Governor Muazu Aliyu of Niger state has applauded President Goodluck Jonathan for considering amnesty to the Boko Haram sect.
The governor gave this applause during the opening ceremony of a one week workshop of the National Population Commission on the review of the 2006 Population Census in Minna, the Niger state capital.
Doctor Aliyu, who is also the chairman of the northern governor’s forum, said the granting of amnesty to the group will not totally solve the security challenges across the north as there is more to the security crisis in the region than Boko Haram.
He urged the federal government to consider other options in its attempt to resolve the security challenges across the northern part of the country.
