Nine persons have been confirmed dead in a road crash
along the Abeokuta -Siun Sagamu expressway, while others sustained
various degrees of injuries.
The accident involving an 18-seater Hi-ace bus belonging to Lukdos Transport Company and an articulated lorry marked LAGOS JJJ 489 XB occurred around 7 30AM at Ototo village, few kilometers away from the state capital.
The accident reportedly occurred when the truck, coming from the opposite direction lost control and rammed into the commercial bus.
The victims including three male and five female were said to be members of the same church died on the spot as well as the driver.
The Lagos bound bus was said to be conveying members of African Church Solution Camp, Abeokuta, for a wedding ceremony of another member of the church.
Confirming the incident, the coordinator of the state Traffic Compliant and Enforcement, TRACE, Mr. Sola Bamidele blamed it all on reckless driving by the truck driver.
He said that the remains of the victims have been deposited at the State Hospital, Ijaiye and Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, morgues.
