The Yobe state government has slammed a 4PM to
7AM curfew on the restive town of Potiskum in the north eastern, Boko
Haram suspects ridden state. This the government said is in
“consideration of the persistent nature of the attacks in Potiskum by
suspected members of the Boko Haram sect”.
A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the governor on Information, Abdullahi Bego, says the restriction of movement is to enable security men take adequate measures for the protection of lives and property pointing out that the decision was taken after a meeting between heads of security agents and the state governor.|
“By this statement, movement will be allowed between the hours of 7 Am and 4 PM daily”.
The statement further said “governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, calls on people of the state to pray fervently for the restoration of peace in the state and the nation in general”.
He also called on people of the state to accord security agents the needed support in the search for peace in the state.
The JTF confirmed that 13 people were killed an attack in the restive town and gave the breakdown as two serving policemen, a retired policeman and his three children, four civilians a retired custom officer and his son as well as a suspected terrorist on Sunday.
