The Council however disqualified the Southern Electricity distribution company for multiple bids for the Benin Disco.
Southern Electricity Company is jointly owned by the governments of Edo, Ekiti and Delta states.
The governors of these states had previously rejected the announcement of Vigeo Power Distribution as the successful bidder for the Benin Distribution Company by the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) insisting that the bidding process was not free and fair to them.
However, announcing successful bidders on Monday, the Council said the approved bids for the generation companies include Amperion power Distribution Company limited which has a bid of US$132,000,000 and therefore is the preferred bidder for the core investor sale of 51% shares of Geregu power Plc; Mainstream energy solutions limited which offered an annual fee of US$50,760,665.18 and a commencement fee of US$257,000,000 is the preferred bidder for the concession of Kainji Hydro power Plc; North-south power ltd which offered an annual fee of US$23,602,484.87 and a commencement fee of US$111,654,534 is the preferred bidder for the concession of Shiroro hydro power Plc.
