The
anti-bomb police squad in Plateau state has recovered and evacuated
debris of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) after the devices exploded
on the eve of the nation’s 52nd independence anniversary, in Jos, the
state capital.
The explosion reportedly occurred, late Sunday evening, in the densely populated Ajayi street junction in Kwararafa area of Jos.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abuh Emmanuel in a statement claimed that there was no casualty and damage to property where the explosion occurred.
According to the police officer, “The anti-bomb squad responded swiftly to the scene of the incident and the cooperation of members of the public frustrated the evil agenda of the terrorists’ elements.”
The statement further adds that residents of the area rose to the challenge and arrested a suspect in connection with the incident, who was handed to the Special Task Force.
