Aluu Killings: Mum of slain student says there is no security in Nigeria

sd_chinwe_biringa_on_port_harcourt_killing_101012In an exclusive interview with Channels TV, the bereaved mother of one of the boys that were lynched and burnt to death in Aluu, last Friday in Port Harcourt, Mrs. Chinwe Biringa, has alleged that there is no security in Nigeria because police officers were around the corner where the gruesome murder of her son and three others took place but they chose to do nothing.
According to Mrs. Chinwe Biringa, the police claimed they were at the scene of the incident but couldn’t stop the perpetrators from going ahead with their murder because they were overwhelmed by the crowd.
She however wondered why officers of the Joint Task Force who fired warning shots into the air to disperse the crowd and collect the burnt corpses, did not use the warning shot tactics to control the ‘overwhelming crowd.’
“That was how they were able to carry their dead bodies. If the police had done warning shots…..” she said and paused as she switched to prayers that this unfortunate incident wont happen to anyone else.
“All the them there (the police), are they not with sticks or guns?” she pondered emotionally.
She further gave more flaks to the Nigeria Police Force, saying “if they (police) want to work, they will work. They are the same thing. All of them are the same thing” she added as she criticised the lackadaisical attitude of the police officers that allowed the gruesome murder of the young boys to carry on.
“We don’t have security in this country…we don’t just have. We are living by his (God) grace everyday, because this can happen to anybody any day. ”
“If the police wanted to do their jobs, they would because to her there is no security in the country at all as Nigerians are living by the Grace of God all around the country as such can happen to anyone, anywhere.
She further claimed that her late son, Chiadika who recently turned 20 and his three friends went to the Aluu community to collect a debt owed one of the four boys, contrary to other account that they went to steal laptop and blackberry phones.
She said Chiadika and his friends couldn’t have gone to steal laptop because it was something that Chiadika had been given access to since he started primary school and it is near impossible for them to go and steal a laptop in broad daylight and thirdly where is the laptop in question?
“I just want justice” she added.
