The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed
Abubakar on Tuesday said he is prepared to place monetary ransom on the
head of the chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed
Maina.
The police boss made the remark when he appeared before the senate committee on police affairs to explain his failure to execute the arrest warrant on Mr Maina.
He told lawmakers that he withdrew the police officers attached to Mr Maina immediately the senate issued the warrant of arrest and since that time, Mr Maina absconded and has not been seen.
Mr Abubakar told the lawmakers that he is handicapped by the delay in the signing of the 2013 budget to be able to place a handsome reward for whoever apprehends Mr Maina.
He however, explained that they are yet to scan the immigration documents to determine if the suspect has left the country and which country he ran to.
Notwithstanding he said that the police would soon declare him wanted through the involvement of the International Police Organisation (INTERPOL).
