Super Eagles Coach; Stephen Keshi has made a
dramatic U-turn and will remain as head coach of Nigeria’s National Team
after the intervention of the Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi in his row with the Nigerian Football Federation [NFF].
Keshi’s row with the NFF, led him announcing on South African radio, Metro FM, on Monday where he revealed that he told the federation he will no longer continue as the Super Eagles’ Head Coach.
A statement signed by the winning coach on Tuesday claimed that he has ‘reconsidered’ his position and decided to continue with the job.
Explaining his stance on the crisis with NFF, the coach explained in the statement that “while I have had cause to express my displeasure over some issues that happened in the course of our participation in the AFCON 2013, which my team won by the grace of God, especially concerning my relationship with the Nigerian Football Federation, I have since had opportunity to discuss the various issues with all concerned. I am therefore pleased to say that I have reconsidered my position and have decided to continue with my job.”
Coach Keshi thanked the Minister of Sports for his swift and kind intervention.
Credible sources revealed that the Minister of Sport, who also chairs the Nigerian Sports Commission, prevailed on the former Mali and Togo coach to withdraw his resignation.
