Jonathan set to receive Clinton, heads to Ghana later

President Goodluck Jonathan will today (Thursday) travel to Ghana to attend the funeral service of the late Ghanaian president John Atta Mills. A statement by the presidential special adviser on Media and Publicity Reuben Abati said.
The statement said “President Goodluck Jonathan will travel to Accra, Ghana tomorrow at the head of Nigeria’s official delegation to the burial of late President John Atta Mills who passed away on the 24th of July, 2012.”
The statement further said Jonathan will meet with the new Ghanaian president.
“President Jonathan will participate in the funeral rites of late President Mills scheduled for Friday, August 10, 2012 and also meet with Ghana’s new leader, President John Dramani Mahama during his visit to Accra.”
President Jonathan is also scheduled to meet with the United States’ Secretary of States, Hilary Clinton, who is on a tour of seven African nations, before departing for the burial of his late colleague.
Mr. Abati also used the micro blogging site, Twitter, to confirm the president’s itinerary.
Using his handle, abatti1990, the presidential spokesman tweeted “Prez Jonathan receives in audience US Sec.of State, Mrs. Clinton. Travels later to Ghana for the burial of Prof. atta Mills. Back Frid.”
The President will return to Abuja on Friday.
