Orji Signs N137 Billion “Budget Of Hope” Into Law

The Governor of Abia State, Theodore Orji has signed the 2013 Abia State Appropriation bill, also called “budget of hope,” into Law.
The bill, aimed at ensuring efficient and prudent utilization of limited resources for the sustenance of the overall growth of Abians, was signed into law by Governor Orji  at the  executive chambers of the government house, Umuahia.
Shortly after making the document a legal seal, the governor commended the state legislators for their comprehensive and objective analysis and painstaking review of the budget and hinted that all the key sectors of the government are accommodated without discrimination.
Governor Orji gave assurance of proper discipline and implementation of the overall macro-economic policies in the bill stating that the government has started implementing the budget in many ways through provision of welfare and infrastructure to Abians.
According to the Speaker, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, the total budget outlay of N134,148,037,590.00 was initially presented and laid before the Abia Legislature but after due and careful consideration it was adjusted to N137,172,537,600.00 (one hundred and thirty seven billion, one hundred and seventy two million, five hundred and thirty seven thousand, six hundred naira).
The Speaker also said that the increase in budget outlay is to consolidate the gains already achieved by the executive arm in the provision of Health, Water, Education, Agriculture and Rehabilitation of Basic Infrastructures and in the sustenance of activities of government towards poverty alleviation, wealth creation and laying foundation for enduring legacies for Abia state.
