Gunmen on Monday
night killed the Borno state Commissioner for Justice, and an ex-prisons
chief in another area, government and police sources said Tuesday.
The Borno Attorney General, Zanna Malam Gana was shot dead in his home town of Bama, in Borno State North East Nigeria, on the threshold of the Sahara Desert, the state’s justice ministry said in a statement.
“We received the report of the death of the commissioner of justice, Zannah Malam Gana,” a government official said on condition of anonymity of the attack in the town of Bama.
“He was shot dead by some gunmen in his house around 8:45 pm last night.”
A police source said a former national prisons chief was also shot dead in Bauchi state.
Police spokesman for Bauchi state Hassan Auyo said gunmen shot the former prison controller, Ibrahim Jarmam on Monday evening, and he later died of wounds in hospital.
