The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC)
has appointed Baritor Kpagih as the new Resident Electoral Commissioner
(REC) in Edo state.
The handing over ceremony took place on Thursday at the commission’s state headquarter in Benin city and was witnessed by Electoral officers from different local government areas in the state and other members of the commission.
The outgoing Resident Electoral Commissioner Kassim Gaidam who
resumed office three months ago primarily to conduct the governorship
election said the immediate challenge before the new REC is the pending
case on the governorship election before the state election tribunal and
the conduct of the continuous voters’ registration (CVR).
Mr Kpagih a retired acting comptroller general of the Nigeria customs service, asked for co-operation and guidance from members of staff.
