Gunmen set primary school ablaze in Yobe

Suspected members of the Boko Haram Islamic sect on Monday launched attack at the Damagum Central Primary school setting part of it ablaze.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Toyin Gbadegesin who confirmed the incident to Channels Television said the Damagum Police Division and Catholic Church were also attacked by the attackers but the police repelled the attack.
No casualty was however recorded but the police claim they are after the attackers.
Damagum has so far been attacked three times this year by the hoodlums.
The first on the police division while the second was on vehicles conveying salaries of the local government staff.
Meanwhile, the Kano state police Commissioner Mr Ibrahim Idris, also confirmed the arrest of one person suspected to be connected with an attack on a military check point at Gyadi-Gyadi area of the state on Sunday.
Idris confirmed the arrest when he paid traditional Sallah homage to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero in his palace.
According to him, the suspect with a bullet wound was arrested while trying to escape and added that investigation into the matter will be conducted to determine the extent of his involvement in the crime.
